Roadtrip 101

My plan was to blog everyday during this road trip...that didn't happen. We brought the laptop but the pain of trying to find Internet connection daily proved too much. We're on the backside of a 2 week trip with our last stop here in Golden, Co visiting friends, mtn biking, and catching the whitewater rodeo tonight. Pretty stoked about that, but it will only fuel my fire to get back in a boat! The plan on this trip was to ride, then ride some more, however mother nature had different plans. We did get in a solid day in Flagstaff, Az on our way to the Grand Canyon at the local Mt. Eldon trail system...if you ever get the chance to ride there, do it. The worst thing about it was the altitude, it was like a slap in the face from the get go, luckily over the next few days we acclimated rather quickly. This is one of the best layed out, sweetest single track I've ridden, definitely a secret the locals are trying to hide, more than one local instructed me to, "don't tell anyone" of these trails!

The next phase was to hit up the Grand Canyon and attempt a "top to bottom to top" hike all in one day. We succeeded, but not without some extreme soreness in the days to follow as well as a sweet experience of seeing a mule fly. Ya, a mule fly. Here's a video to wet your appetite...
I'll write up some more in the days to come of the rest of the trip, but Dr. J is getting antsy here in Starbucks. Time to go ride.
